Nancy Zieman (Sewing with Nancy) has her 2017 Block of the Month going! Have you been following along? This BOM's theme is Fat Quarter Mystery Quilt with blocks made from half square and quarter square triangles.
Here is the January Block!
You can click HERE to go to Nancy's blog where you will see all the blocks for this year so far along with other information you will need to complete this quilt.
Each month, Nancy has a blog tutorial with all of the instructions and illustrations to make each month's block. The BOM started in January but you can still see each block's tutorial so why not get started!
Nancy is using her new fabric collection called "Garnet" to create this beautiful quilt but you could choose you own favorite colors or you could use the scraps you keep saving!!
Here's the February block.
While these blocks may look like a lot of piecing, if you stitch one block each month, it won't seem as daunting as having the whole quilt pattern in front of you and you're trying to get so many blocks done in so little time. This February block has lots of squares and only a few half square triangles so this block should sew up pretty fast!
Here's the March block. Now aren't these blocks looking nice! Make one block and set it aside. When you have a little time, make the next block and set it aside.
Once you are caught up, you will only have one block each month to stitch and set aside. Before you know it, your little pile of "set it aside" will start looking like a quilt is on its way!
I really hope some of you will give this a try. You'll be surprised how good you'll feel as your little pile of blocks starts to grow and you start anticipating what the next month's block will look like!
Be sure, before you start, that you check your quarter inch seam allowance and always, always check twice (or thrice) and cut once!
How about doing these blocks in reds, greens and creams and have a beautiful Christmas quilt at the end of the year!! It's never to early to start stitching for Christmas. Why not make yourself a present this time!
Keep stitching,
loreen
