Here is a recent project we made in my Saturday Live Sew Along on Miss Loreen's Schoolhouse channel. It is a Christmas present placemat and
very easy to make. Here are the materials needed for this project.
Fabrics:
Background Fabric – 14” x 20”
Backing Fabric – 12” x 18”
Batting – 14” x 20”
Red fabric (whatever color you want your ribbon) – roughly measure applique shapes to see how much fabric you need. You might be able to use fabric from your stash.
Supplies:
Fusible webbing – 12” x 1 yd
Topstitch Needle – Generally 80/12 unless using a heavier thread for quilting.
Thread for sewing
Threads for applique stitching – I used machine embroidery thread for my applique stitching. It is a bit heavier than sewing thread and very shiny.

CLICK HERE for the templates used in this project. The templates are $1.00 to download. If you follow me on Facebook and YouTube, you can get the template free a day or two before the Saturday Sew Along class. Many times there are no templates to download for the Sew Along projects.
We sew together every Saturday at 1:-00 pm....with the exception of one Saturday a month, when I have to teach a machine embroidery class at a local store. On that Saturday, I start class at 1:30 pm. You can keep up-to-date by subscribing to my YouTube Channel so you will get notifications when I go live and also when I upload a new video tutorial. Also, I post a list of materials needed and a link to any template you may need on Miss Loreen's Schoolhouse FaceBook page. Unfortunately, I have no way to post this info on YouTube before the class day. You can watch all of the previous Saturday Sew Alongs anytime on Miss Loreen's Schoolhouse YouTube Channel.
Have a great day!
