I've added a new photo album of some of pictures of serger projects I have taught over the last 2 years. It reminds me that I haven't been using my serger as much as I should and I do enjoy using it. Since it's a Babylock and has the self-threading, I have no excuse not to get a project going.
Here's a picture of a fancy pillowcase I made last year. Doing heirloom sewing on the serger is pretty easy, sometimes easier than own my regular sewing machine. There's puffing and cording on the cuff edge of the pillowcase that I did with the serger. I added some ruching that I did on my sewing machine. It's okay to use your serger and sewing machine to make a project. Sometimes we think that we should use one or the other or the serger is just useful for nicely finished seams. The serger gathers nicely by just adjusting the differentials......the feeding of the fabric as you serge. So get your serger out, dust it off and try a small project. You'll have fun!
Happy sewing,
loreen
